After I left the Yacht Club and it's "hijinks"on Sat. I went to DeNovo to pick something up for dinner(no fine dining at the YC). There on the front door is a letter to the patrons---- please don't bring your own food or drink into the restaurant. The management confirmed that people have been trying to do that, recently.     When I first arrived here in 1985, I quickly became aware of a tight-fisted, meanspirited strain running through this community that I hadn't experienced before. I chalked it up to the sewer moratorium, the Choptank power failures and the many depression era survivors that lived here at the time (and that I could understand.) But it persists. First the guy obviously upset because Clarke is threatening his cut-rate play anytime subsidized golf and then the unprecedented letter on a restaurant door: please let us sell you our food in our restaurant.

  I'm beginning to think that the man from the TV show you referenced could only draw a crowd if he promised to give the food away.
