Ads for amenities are not news releases. We are and will loose credibility with area publications if we continue to operate under the notion that ads for amenities are news releases. In fact, OPA only rarely produces a true news release. That is because the controller of the information (not anyone in the actual PR/Marketing Department) continues to address us on a need to know basis and apparently we do not fulfill the requirement under need to know! In regard to this most recent Ocean Pines Report, if Olson reviewed it, then his Performance Evaluation file should have a "U" entered in it. Why are we still questioning on whether he reviewed it? I am willing to bet money or lack there of because my termination is still under review with MD's Department of Unemployment that he composed at least 90% of the content. Let's just do it the old fashion way Joe, a free lunch at the Yacht Club? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Good news releases should be written as though the author was writing them as complete copy for the intended media outlet audience. Good news releases provide some background and address some specific issue in moderate depth. They should be written with the idea media outlets will publish them "as is." Many may. Others will assign a reporter to delve deeper. Depends on the issue/subject. Ads for amenities are not news releases. In fact, OPA only rarely produces a true news release. In regard to this most recent Ocean Pines Report, if Olson reviewed it, then his Performance Evaluation file should have a "U" entered in it. |
