I'd say any discussion of how OPA by-laws are changed would be totally non-factual without reference to the Boggs petition ............ It's been mentioned before. I think this is another issue where we are going in circles. It's one thing to say Boggs was upset with the BOD voting to change the by-laws and provide themselves with free amenity memberships that she put together a petition drive which resulted in a by-laws change which allows owners to change the by-laws. It's yet another to say, "The all time, all time, top board critic was Judy Boggs. Boggs was the Babe Ruth of board bashers. No one comes close to Boggs if the record books are ever written. Boggs was so incensed .............." And what does this comment have to do with by-law changes? - "Interestingly, while Boggs served as president of the board there was an attempt by other board members to oust her from the presidency. The anti-Boggs board coalition had the necessary votes until, at the last minute, Boggs convinced the other female board member to change her vote, thus avoiding what would have made her successful petition drive a Pyrrhic victory -- but that's a story for another day." A story for another day which has nothing to do with the subject of by-law changes. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My commentary was about random thoughts on the bylaws changes, so comments about the Boggs petition in regard to the by-laws were entirely appropriate. Without the Boggs petition we would not even be discussing a by-laws referendum. Rather the Board of Directors, as was the case with EVERY prior by-laws change, would have simply made them without a referendum. Just because someone isn't aware of OPA history doesn't mean the history doesn't exist or should not be recalled when appropriate to the issue. I'd say any discussion of how OPA by-laws are changed would be totally non-factual without reference to the Boggs petition -- if one were truly interested in the facts and not in making emotional, uninformed comments. |
