Maybe some board, some day, or some GM, some day, will have enough business savvy to eliminate this senseless drain on association assessment income so this money ..... can be used to better advantage .......... The opportunity presented itself just a few years ago and the individual with a successful track record of managing restaurants was told to take a hike. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: losses on our business amenities approaching $500,000 You said the same thing at a board meeting not too long ago. Marty, you know full well what I am talking about when I say "business amenities." We have gone over this any number of times in the past. Golf, food service, tennis, aquatics are all businesses. However, call them whatever you choose. As for your plus of $41K, this includes beach club parking. Beach Club parking might well be called a "business" but it is in fact a monopoly where OPA sucks money from association members far, far above the cost of operations and then some folks use this anomaly to suggest things are just okedokey. Regardless of how anyone wants to spin this stuff -- you, me, or anyone -- my concern is the combined losses at the YC and golf. Budgeted loss at the YC alone this year is over $200,000. Maybe some board, some day, or some GM, some day, will have enough business savvy to eliminate this senseless drain on association assessment income so this money and the $150K or more golf loss can be used to better advantage than throwing the combined $350K or more down the sewer every year. |
