Unfortunately I cannot get the image of Mr. Gomsak, speaking on behalf of the B&F Committee, suggesting a $105 increase in the assement for this year:........ I agree. If my memory is correct, isn't this the same B&F Committee that recommended something like a $38 increase in bulkhead fees? Worse, when the question was ask how the B&F Committee arrived at either number, to justify and support their recommendations, there was no answer. Why $38 and not $35 or $40? How did they arrive at these figures? No answer or explanation. ........but I am concerned that perhaps his "strong financial background" might be something get in the way of carefully considering the ramifications of such increases for the membership. Numbers oriented. Take the individual member out of the equations. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: You should watch the videos of the board meetings in particular the budget meeting of 1/9/09 where the failures of past boards to properly fund reserve accounts and using reserve account money to fund operations and/or special board projects is discussed. Unfortunately I cannot get the image of Mr. Gomsak, speaking on behalf of the B&F Committee, suggesting a $105 increase in the assement for this year: a substantial portion of it to "build reserves"...and he served as the messenger. I protested that thinking at the time in a commentary in the January 21 edition of The Courier...also posted here on the forum as OPA Reserves ...and thankfully the board didn't include an increase of such magnitude in the final budget. Rather increases were spread over a period of years...and although OPA didn't get the money as a more substantial "chunk," it will eventually be available to do necessary repairs...again over a period of time. I have no idea how involved Mr. Gomsak was in fomenting this proposed increase nor his personal attitude regarding it...but I am concerned that perhaps his "strong financial background" might be something get in the way of carefully considering the ramifications of such increases for the membership. |
