We can be absolutely SURE that Dutch will do everything possible to spend our money wisely. Please don't include me in your "we" group. I have zero idea as to what Dutch would do or not do, beyond his stated primary goal of firing the General Manager, and his chances of seeing that accomplished are extremely thin -- at best.. I am thinking he (Gomsak) may want us to live a little "too high on the hog". He may think that all of us have plenty of money to spare. Such thoughts are understandable, and I cannot say I have not considered them myself. However, no one person is going to dominate the board; no one candidate is going to bring qualifications or policies to totally satisfy the very diverse group of OPA association members. In short, no one is a perfect candidate. Based on my observations, and as someone who has attended more board meetings than the vast majority of association members, my choice of the four candidates boiled down to Gomsak and Thompson. Certainly I do not expect everyone to agree with my choices. However, I do expect association members to vote for individuals based on the totality of their potential contributions to the board going forward, and not just some single nebulous concern over assessments. What no association member should want is a return to candidates campaigning on a platform of lowering assessments. Such thinking is exactly what resulted in the poor maintenance of our infrastructure everyone has been complaining about. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe R. to Linda O : So, let's sum up -- Stachurski prefers Unger. Yet Unger approved the same budget you accuse Gomsak and all members of B&F and perhaps all board members of supporting. Since Stachurski is now your guiding light but Unger, like Gomsak, supported the budget and must certainly be more of a part of the YC problem than Gomsak, I suppose that only leaves Thompson and Dutch for you to vote for; neither of them voted for the budget in any way and neither has served on any committees recently. Hmmmm.....ok... Would that be such a terrible choice?? We can be absolutely SURE that Dutch will do everything possible to spend our money wisely. We would have to have been on another planet to not know it. He wants to maintain our properties in the proper manner, make us live within our means, and keep assessments reasonable. There is certainly nothing wrong with that. Dutch represents the feelings of a lot of residents of Ocean Pines who are feeling overwhelmed by the spending. Mr. Thompson seems like a bright young man. He has lived here most all his life and has a good background in finance. I suppose Mr. Gomsak worries me a little. I am thinking he may want us to live a little "too high on the hog". He may think that all of us have plenty of money to spare. He is ...of course ...very well qualified and it would be good to have such a person on the board....but I still have concerns. Nancy
