For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: If the money risk is so negligible, why did the developer refuse to take it? You never answered my question about who you think should pay for the $1 million sewer line if ths permit isn't forthcoming from the state. No one wants to touch that one with a 10-foot pole. The choice was clear - black and white if you will. A $1 million risk was clearly identified in bringing in Pennington Commons, however negligible one might believe it to be. The four commissioners absolved the developer of the risk and placed it on the taxpayers. It doesn't get any more black and white. There is nothing GRAY about taking a $1 million risk. By the way, there is no risk of curent Ocean Pines lot owners not getting connected, under any circumstances. You seem to think I'm fightiing a battle over bringing in Pennington Commons. That is not the case at all - that was decided long ago. The issue for me at this point is financial fairness for the people of Ocean Pines as the new areas come in. If you believe the county was correct in letting the developer off the hook on a $1 million risk and placing it on the taxpayers, then we do indeed have a difference of opinion. Here I am, the conservative Republican, trying to look out for the little guy, while you, the liberal Democrat, support protecting the big time developer. |
