Well, first off I think a 50-year lease on the golf course would be a very bad idea ... especially at $1.
As for the YC, I too believe a small building, open 4 months a year is the way to go, and OPA could walk away every year with a nice operational profit. However, the board does not care what property owners think on that issue, and the board will not even ask. The process is more or less cast in stone. The board will put the new Yacht Club, as proposed by Bob Thompson, out to referendum later this summer. The board will not consider a smaller building alternative. If the referendum passes, the board will roundly ridicule all the naysayers and build it.. If the referendum fails, the board will roundly ridicule all the naysayers and start spending lots of money patching up the YC over several years. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: What do property owners think about my previous suggestions to limit the yacht club to one story unless it can be demonstrated that the payback for the second story banquet facility is 10 years or less? I would also be interested in hearing what people think about leasing the golf course on a 50 year triple net lease and if no takers can be found a $1.00 a year then close the course and turn it into a park? |
