For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Really? What happened to our Equestrian Center Marty, I was not here when that was in vogue. Did you have a horse at that time? I don't know anyone with a horse except race horse owners. Sounds like a loser to me. Does anyone have them in the pines now? Bill Hi Bill, The Equestrian Center was a marketing gimmick which was short lived. You passed it on the way to the North Gate, and it was an attention grabber. BUT ....how many people really want to ride horseback at the beach? I actally saved my Equestrian Center packet and it a a HOOT! You could BRING YOUR OWN HORSE WITH YOU AND BOARD IT WHILE VISITING. It lists all the daily fee for taking care of your horse while you are at the beach. Too funny. If I had a horse....I really cannot imagine taking it on vacation with me. The center was located near the spot where the post office is now. There was no Rt. 90 yet and the area around it was available for riding aound in the woods. My older child did ride a couple of times with some friends, but they were mainly interested in getting to the beach and it appeared that others were so inclined. Boise Cascade had opened our sister community ...Lake of the Woods...about five years before down in Orange County, Virginia. Having horses down there make more sense, but would still be an expensive operation. I am not sure if they still have any. Nancy |
