Section 5: OPA Board Subject: OPA Loses IRS Case Msg# 823865

No. Unless we turned a $300,000+ per year profit into a loss. Ditto the Stupid part..
I certainly hope you aren't inferring I'm stupid! I put it out there to get further information. I don't use the beach club, I don't or will never use the beach club, but I would like to have the BOD find a way to pay a 1 million dollar tax bill without it creating so much chaos. You'd think our Treasurer and accountants would be able to handle one amenity correctly. There must be a way we can own a beach club in Ocean City and make a profit without it being so darn complicated. I was just trying to brainstorm, not be stupid. Linda |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Does anybody have any idea how many parking spaces there are at the beach club? In the neighborhood of 250 as I recall. why couldn't Ocean Pines find out how many cars there is space for and sell that many passes to our membership? Why sell more than there are spaces? That would be absolutely stupid. OPA would need to increase the overall assessment amount by perhaps $250,000 or more. if we just made it private and sold only a certain number of spaces, wouldn't that take away the tax liability? No. Unless we turned a $300,000+ per year profit into a loss. Ditto the Stupid part.. |
