Joe
first let me say you are agreat politician as I find it amazing how you take out of context one piece of an individual's response. I did not say I frowned on outside users. More importantly I said we now have a chance with a new facility albeit smaller then the one proposed to make the YC profitable. In the long run only time will tell which was the right way to go. But first we must see where d\this vote will go. As I mentioned to Norm I suspect it will be close. One more point it is not the facility that will continue to bring custmers back. It is the service and the food. Up until now that has been inconsistent at best |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Also why are we building a facility that will require the outside community to support to break even? The very plain fact is that OPA cannot operate any business amenity at even close to break even without outside customers. The only exceptions would be where we have a more or less monopoly like boat slips or beach parking. Taking your logic to a logical conclusion, we would shut down virtually all business amenities. The question is, do association emmbers desire the current amenities to the extent that outside users are not frowned on as a means of keeping them open. My guess is a majority of association emmbers want the keep the business amenities even it that means letting non-members pay to use them. |
