Ok Rosalind, since I have more time on my hands without my therapy dog I will take a shot at answering your questions. why not lower cost news print paper used? - unnecessary expense on mt dime!!!!
I absolutely agree. Both Andrea and I raised our eyebrows when we saw those fancy color brochures come into the home. The fact that it was our dime made it easier to do it that way. 1. why no solar panels? if not in the whole project why not light the parking lots with solar? I have no objection with solar panels but from what I have read they don't make financial sense without a subsidy from either state or federal governments. You think those solar panels near Rt 50 at Purdue's facility in Salisbury were an independent decision by Purdue because they saved money...without taxpayer support? On a stand alone basis I have read that solar panels have a 15 year life with a 35 year payback. 2. why duplicate what already exists - only larger? Ted Moroney in a post explained that the extra space, 2000sf, was mainly for storage, enclosed trash storage and Dock Masters office which is now a separate building. The basic interior space is basically the same. 3. Why no health club? Why was not a health club considered for the community center? a lost opportunity to generte income! Yes it was considered in the original CC design which raised community ire who saw it as a Taj Ma Hal. A health club did not appear in the trimmed down version that was eventually built. I also would not think that the YC is the appropriate place for a health club. The CC would be but it appears that horse has left the barn. Secondly the Board was very concerned about the 4.3 million price tag and adding a health club and that additional cost just wasn't going to make the cut. As to generating income one would think that was a possibility until one looks at the record of generating income in other amenities in the Pines over the years. I am always amazed that the amenity that makes the most money and enables the Board to say the amenities break even is a "parking lot". 4. Will the new yacht club be wired for internet service? It is currently so why would you think that would change? 5. why no equipment to recycle or sell the tons of leaves and pine chats discarded each year? No one on the forum wants me to answer that question since I was considered the "leaf man" for a while. I can tell you that it has been seriously studied and steps are in place heading in that direction but it is a little more complicated as to space and equipment than one might imagine. Eddie Wells could tell you more if it is a subject in which you have more than a passing interest. 6. Even as volunteers, the level of bd. member governance issues must be addressed. board members should be held to higher standards of competence as well as legal and accountant advisors. changes must be made at decision making level, vision level. I don't know how to answer such a broad sweeping question. Sounds like you may want to consider running for the Board. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: if my house had similar problems as evidenced on page 12 of the bod's recent expensive booklet mailed with the ballots- why not lower cost news print paper used? - unnecessary expense on mt dime!!!! I would choose repair, not demolition and new construction. But, If hoa members overwhelingly choose new construction my complaints are as follows: 1. why no solar panels? if not in the whole project why not light the parking lots with solar? no need to pay electric bills when solar can be or should be incorporated in the plans. 2. why duplicate what already exists - only larger? 3. Why no health club? Why was not a health club considered for the community center? a lost opportunity to generte income! 4. Will the new yacht club be wired for internet service? Dont believe internet wiring ever considered for community center, core pool or yacht club. YET GPS included in golf carts!!!! 5. why no equipment to recycle or sell the tons of leaves and pine chats discarded each year? 6. Even as volunteers, the level of bd. member governance issues must be addressed. board members should be held to higher standards of competence as well as legal and accountant advisors. changes must be made at decision making level, vision level. |
