This has been a rough day for me so maybe I don't understand what you are saying, but could you please clarify? They are NOT proposing another $150 to be ADDED to what we are currently paying? | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Where is all this money coming from. 15 to 20 million doolars are these people crazy or what Well, it is coming from you and every other association member. Perhaps you neglected to notice but the OPA Board of Directors has voted to add $150 a year to the assessment charge for major capital projects, all but one unapproved. You are already paying it. The CIP "Replacement 5-Year Plan" alone calls for spending of about $8 million through fiscal 2018. $150 per year for 10 years for 8440 asociation members = $12,660,000. None of this includes non-major replacement project funds. The CIP shows projected project expenditures through fiscal 2018, but no expenditures from there through 2024, the end of this particular 10-year plan. Look for a Natatorium in the latter years, among other as yet unknown expenditures. The plan calls for spending $3.2 million on the golf Country Club. Over at the Beach Club the plan is to pave the parking lot for $200,000 (how did OPA survive with an unpaved lot for 45 years?); and $600,000 on a new bathhouse, unneeded in my view. Frankly, I'd prefer looking at a new beach club. As to whether "these people" are crazy or not, "these people" are elected by association members. Three years ago OPA turned a corner; it began operating like the federal government. |
