For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I live here full time so I cannot do that. I just keeping the vents closed in winter... seems to work for me. Without cold air coming in and with the heat that goes into the crawl space, the pipes have done fine (knock on wood) Our home, built in 1972, has those spring loaded vents that close when the temperature drops below a certain point. The water lines survived that one especially cold winter when the temperature dropped to about 10 degrees. |
