I was NOT an Ocean Pines Weiner.
Hummm. Then surely you would have no problem with association members making the decision on golf versus open space via a referendum. Back in 2007, when you left, things were just beginning with golf costs. Now it may take $120 of every association member's assessment payment to subsidize golf. Back in 2007, a golf loss of $150,000 a year on operations alone may have been somewhat normal; we recently experienced an operational loss of over $500,000 in a single year. And please... spare us the "naysayer" baloney. One could just as easily paint you as a naysayer on the value of the course as open space park. Calling others names just because they have different opinions is childish. The golf course may have been a treasure at one time, but these days it is a absolute fiscal white elephant that will cost association members perhaps $10 million or more from 2007 through 2017. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Dec, 2007. yes I used various amenities that were available. Yes I was quite active in the membership of the golf club as a supporter, Chair and fund raiser for Junior Golf; an 11 year member the men's golf group serving in various capacities including President; for the membership as a whole I initiated and produced a group email service of information for the entire membership and as President of the Golf Governors. I was also a supporter of various local charities, my church and served on the Board of Directors of a regional charity provider for those in need. I was NOT an Ocean Pines Weiner. I did my best to provide a positive outlook to enchance the community as well as my personal enjoyment of the community. Since we moved back closer to our family, I've maintained an interest by reading various communications that are available and through conversations with many friends still in the community, I've continued my enthusiasm that the community can enhance the treasure of your community instead of tearing it apart so the recent and future residents will have the same wonderful time that we had. Hopefully, the Ocean Pines community will realize the naysayers are not the answer and the forward looking and constructive programs will prevail. Jim Shallow |
