Section 5: OPA Board Subject: COPE Golf Petition? Msg# 879653

Let's see. You ask me a question and then answer it.
First off, my comments to you about poor past board decisions was in response to your post saying, "Decisions made in the absence of facts generally make for poor outcomes and regret." I simply provided a couple of examples of how the board has done exactly what you describe. Trying to make me the issue serves no purpose. I have not questioned the personal integrity of anyone with views opposing my own. There are two distinct issues here - whether association members want to convert the golf course to open space and, if not, then how should OPA manage the golf operation. You say that I want to put the character of Ocean Pines and property values at risk. Not the case at all. What I have said is that the association members should make that decision. If that idea is "disappointing" to you or others then so be it. I recognize that a lot of people on this forum like to bash the Board and the Gen Mgr for their previous decisions. I am not one of them.. Better to learn from history than ignore it. Unfortunately some board members don't even know the history and thus cannot learn from it. Your comment seems intended to denigrate those with opinions differing from your own. if you do this your assessment will go down without really understanding the long term consequences. If I do this? I am not a member of Steen's COPE group. Also, if you were a regular, long term forum reader you would know I have stated on a number of occasions that, compared with many HOA and Condo Association, OPA is a real bargain. I respect the right of anyone to express views in opposition to my own. I also provide a free and completely open platform for association members to do so. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, Your last comment to me is revealing. Is it that you really want to convert the golf course to open space or is it (the petition) a way of demonstrating retaliation for past decisions by the Board and Gen Mgmt? So you would put the character and perhaps property values of OP at risk (surely those properties that back up to the golf course) so you could bask in the moral victory. I recognize that a lot of people on this forum like to bash the Board and the Gen Mgr for their previous decisions. I am not one of them. Joe I think you are bent on petition that is akin to what others have stated...baiting...if you do this your assessment will go down without really understanding the long term consequences. Disappointing. |
