Joe--
IMHO (which is rare, lol), 2 woefully tiny bars, thousands of flies, lousy training of employees, but good food as I recall being said, will not make it a "gathering place". We went last week at 3:50, couldn't get a seat at the outside bar, and went to LaHa instead. I still hope they can make it a decent venture....I loved my days and evenings at the old Yacht Club. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Olson was fired primarily due to efforts of Bill Rakow and Pete Gomsak, and a strong supporting role by Marty Clarke. Les Purcell was convinced to go along for the ride. Rakow and Gomsak saw Olson's inability to make the Yacht Club a "community gathering place" as his primary failing. This in spite of the fact that immediately prior to his firing, Olson produced what is likely the lowest loss in YC history for self management -- about $11,000. Thompson could do no better than Olson at making the old YC a community gathering place, and losses under Thompson ran to well over $100,000 a year. I must also say, I supported the removal of Olson at the time. Unfortunately, my perception now is we went from the frying pan to the fire. |
