I'll point out that while OPA does not consider Wood Duck Park as a park that should be on a list of OPA parks, the Dog Park is on the list of OPA parks.
You gotta love this place. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: OPA's Marketing and Public Relations Department explains why Wood Duck Park does not exist as a park on the OPA web site: "Wood Duck Park is not a park we promote for activities with equipment such as picnic tables, play or sports equipment and things like parking and trash receptacle that are under the PARKS link under Rec. so probably why you didn’t see listed there. "It seems mostly we have always listed this park as a launch park especially for kayaks. There has never really been a true park since access seems limited, no parking etc.. "We list Wood Duck Park in ramps and launches in the Playbook and on the website." Let's see, Wood Duck Park is not promoted as a park but as a kayak launching area.... if you can figure out how to get in there with a kayak. Since it isn't promoted as a park because there is no parking, do kayakers carry their kayaks from their homes to the park only to not know how to access the park? Access is limited according to OPA. The park has at least four, possibly five dedicated access locations. It seems the 1989 cartoon still applies; keep the scum bags out of Wood Duck Park.. |
