Was told the same info......several summers ago.
It's currently not a hazard and/or impediment to navigation / to the environment; and educated salvage opinion's are that once it's touched, the vessel will disintegrate into the before-mentioned 'hazard and/or impediment to navigation / to the environment' If I had interest in property up in the commercial harbor; my concern would be what happens when a storm / storm surge blows into the harbor. Till then, it adds to the 'rustic' charm of the basin. In the interim, it's great for fishing around on a slack tide |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I asked about that boat a couple of weeks ago. The person I talked to is pretty well plugged in to things around here. He said that no one will underwrite the expense to move/junk it and the governmental authorities don't care because it's not an environmental hazard. It sure is a visual hazard. It's appearance hasn't improved in 3 1/2 years. |
