Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Stevens Shatters His Board Majority Msg# 912818

Agree that board meetings need to be managed better. What astounds me for a budget meeting is that numbers seem to be moving in all directions....some using numbers extraneous to the actual budget. I would give tom terry credit is he seems to be the only one that has the ability to wrap his head around all the moving parts without being obviously confused or imploding. The board members need to do a better job of communication with each other before going into the public "hearing". Build alliances and much of this debate can be short circuited. Again I give tom terry credit...when things were being advanced, removed, added....someone needs to have the common sense to say "are we sure all of this wheeler dealer actions got us to a good place in totality." One has a tendency to measure the budget by the impact on the assessment...I think Tom and perhaps one or two others look at the big picture of community impact and services and the long view. fire away but that is how I see it....it was unfortunate that two members of the board could not attend. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: There is no organization at board meetings. There was little when Terry was president and even less now that Stevens is president. Board discussions ramble on interminably without focus, with board members interrupting each other. Marty is good at that. However, control can only rest with the chair. |
