The simple fact that a board meeting can go five hours proves that the person running it is not controlling it. And by control, I mean knowing each member's positions on subjects on the agenda and working to broker compromises before the meeting. Then unreconciled positions can be laid out at the start, debated upon and the question can be called after a reasonable amount of discussion.

This present state of affairs gives the GM free reign (and I didn't misspell that).

For just one example, I sincerely doubt at this rate that we will ever know the full cost of the YC.
