Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Stevens Shatters His Board Majority Msg# 913252

It sounds like you don't know each others positions until a meeting. It would seem to me to be the exercise of good judgement to know fellow members positions before the meetings so that you are not blindsided during the meeting. Then blow ups like the one between you and Stevens should not happen. You are a voice of reason in the wilderness. Is there some way to post questions to the board in a public format that directors could answer before up coming meetings? In this way you would each know where everyone is coming from, and would make the actual meeting less dramatic in rhetoric, and be more fruitful. I did not mean to suggest that decisions be made behind closed doors, only that individual points of view be stated in some fashion before actual meetings, thus helping to avoid unexpected conflict, or at the very least giving each director a heads up of potential conflict and time to reevaluate their own positions, or time to formulate strategy before the meetings thereby giving each director more thinking time before decisions lock the board into a course of action. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Roland: I do not believe that any board majority should be meeting in private. It is actually not legal under the law and is also unethical. Marty |
