Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Stevens Shatters His Board Majority Msg# 912935

Thus, one board member could call three other board members individually and ask their support for some motion. If that support was granted, there would not be much point in any of the four getting into arguments with the other three when the motion was made and under discussion at the meeting.
This sort of sounds like "Survivor." Who gets voted off the island? I know this may not be realistic, but I would rather that the other three at least be heard. How about some brainstorming and consensus seeking. At least listen to all ideas and opinions and get others to buy into your plan. Complex problems have more than two possible solutions and the best of several solutions could possibly be combined to best satisify everyone and best meet the needs of the community. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I do not believe that any board majority should be meeting in private. It is actually not legal under the law and is also unethical. I don't believe there is any law or ethical consideration that would, for example, prevent any two or three board members from talking about any OPA issue. Thus, one board member could call three other board members individually and ask their support for some motion. If that support was granted, there would not be much point in any of the four getting into arguments with the other three when the motion was made and under discussion at the meeting. |
