Ted:
No one on the board or the golf steering committee owes anyone any answer to an unasked question. Just because you and a few other chat about something on the forum does not constitute a question of the board of directors. As a sitting director I can tell you I do not remember seeing even one member’s letter or e mail asking about the vetting of the four finalists for the golf management contract. Not one. So, the coat holders are now claiming that one of the finalists had some problems that has now been thoroughly investigated and, in spite of claims by one uninformed director, proved to be completely fabricated and bogus. Should we now ask if they beat their wives? Ted, while on the subject of disclosure, perhaps you might share the monthly Yacht Club “dashboard” with us? After all, we have occupied the facility for almost eleven (11) months and have not seen an updated dashboard for almost seven (7) months. Doesn't the membership deserve to know what this facility cost? BTW, that question has been asked, but never answered. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, The board has to "prove" something? To whom? Complaints are coming from board members and GM. I hear no major questioning from association members. Yeah - the board has something to "prove". They were elected to represent all of us so to make you happy let's use the phrase "inform the membership about the vetting process" if that sounds better. As far as I remember the board members complaining were elected by the owners in OPA to represent them and so yes I think the golf selection committee should address the issue. I didn't realize there needed to be a certain number of complaints to answer questions in particular since if they were answered it ends the issue. It is really interesting to see how the bids for the boat ramp were scrutinized to the nth degree to include board members calling bidders, etc. and on this matter the appearance is there was no in-depth scrutiny. The board can end all of this in a moment, why they won't is unknown. It is the appearance, which only the board can correct, that remains. Maybe it won't matter, maybe it doesn't matter, because I am sure we will meet the goals, whatever they are; in the time frame, whatever that might be, and hit the budget goal this year since its $30K more than they requested. I surrender to the majority and I am done with this subject but if it continues, it continues because those elected to address, inform and lead have failed to do so. They must be taking Hillary PR lessons! Ted |
