The Salisbury guy will NOT tell us what we should do. He will only tell us what is the likely outcome if we actually take "x" action.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Finally, I am confused as to the existence of a comprehensive plan. Is there one. Does it provide a road map for the next 10 to 15 years? OPA has made much fanfare of working on a Comprehensive Plan. Tom Terry became president in 2011 and started a new invigorated Comp plan committee. It worked for three or four years and accomplished nothing. Now OPA has hired some guy out of Salisbury University who will work a Weegie board on the available government census reports and databases of what people buy at Walmart, etc. to tell us what we should do. He says he will talk to the important people in OP to determine what needs to be done. All pure nonsense. Comprehensive Plans are generally used to control development, typically via zoning. We have little or no land to develop and the subdivision is built-out. What we do need is a decent maintenance plan for our facilities and other infrastructure. We are worrying about 30 years down the road while chunks of concrete are dropping on boats going under canal bridges. |
