Thanks but pretty much all the symptoms you cite are readily treated for what they are. People call when they are or perceive they are in crisis. EMTs perform triage and get the patient to the hospital as quickly as possible.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My guess is that many of the questions deal with pain management, need for pain medication and how to deal with that including medications, dosage, managing pain crises, fluids and importance of giving oxygen. I think knowing what sickle cell patients are more likely to suffer from (everything from skin ulcers, bacterial infections, renal failure and stroke, would be important. Sickle Cell can cause crisis that might not be typical in the general populations so focusing on what those are might help your grandson. Good luck to him. |
