It's more than odd. It's mindless. Ryan has one more shot at the test. If he fails, 2 months of fire training and 2 more months of EMT training at the local university and his one year probationary period is down the drain. He will be let go entirely because if you aren't an EMT, you can't be a fireman in this county. He loves the work and they love him but...sorry.
It's not as though we have enough EMT's to triage sickle cell sufferers and the rest of the population and get them to the hospital where they can be treated by doctors. Someone in the federal government has probably gotten promoted for their "sensitivity" in tilting that test. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Ed, I must agree with you. There are too many blood conditions to count that can cause serious illness. I would think that 30percent might touch on a few more. Diabetes, those on Coumadin, cancer ,etc. This does seem rather odd to me. |
