If you like trolleys, we have a good museum over here in Silver Spring.... a loose term....it is really quite a bit north of Silver Spring very near the Inter-County Connector.
I think I like the trolley memories but at the time hated the trolleys when riding them to work. When in Pittsburgh we had a nice trolley museum in Washington, Pa not too far from our home. looks like these old trolleys will outlive all of us. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Great video. I forgot about that coin collector and was reminded how the trolleys racked back and forth as they went down the track. Better hang on. Cool. Jack Hi Jack, If you like trolleys, we have a good museum over here in Silver Spring.... a loose term....it is really quite a bit north of Silver Spring very near the Inter-County Connector. Google "The National Capital Trolley Museum" and you can see some of what we have here. There are streetcars from all over the world and of course our own Capital Transit cars. The one that I rode to school every day is there. It says" Ga. and Alaska" on one sign and "7th Street Wharves" on the other. It always fun to see it! There is one from Pennsylvania...or maybe two. The museum actually started in Baltimore, but they decided they only wanted to have their own cars and it still exists. Everything else moved over here quite a long time ago. It is a great place to visit, and you get to have a fairly long ride when you come. The tracks go down in the woods and all around the property. The driver stops about half way to talk, and let folks ask questions. The have a new, bigger and better building now because the recent Inter-County Connector took some of the land and they had to move over a bit, and I think there is actually more land now. They have a screening room that shows streetcars that were in famous movies..and huge photos of historic movie theaters from the streetcar era. Whether you are 9 or 90 ....it is a fun trip. Probably more fun for those of us who actually rode the rails on a daily basis. Nancy |
