Many of the planters which were constructed for the YC outside area have benches built into them.  Lots of folks sat on the benches and placed their plates alongside, ate, drank, and listened to the music all night.  Others, sat their plate in their lap or, if using the large wooden chairs like those around the fire pit, they placed their plate on the wide chair arm. 

We did enjoy some nights with friends who had parked their boat in the marina for the evening.  Hope you will be able to do the same in your new location.
