At times, I'm amazed that basic principles of effective management seem to be a foreign concept to some individuals bearing the responsibility to manage OPA business operations. The idea/notion of a pending action list or current operations status report is a basic tenet of business management. I actively use this information in my current role as one of the tools to interact with and manage my staff.
I cannot fathom not having this information at hand on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. If I am ever elected to the board, trust that I will push to establish summary status reporting as a standard requirement of our (the board's) staff. Doug Parks |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Some time ago there was a project list that the GM was required to report to the BOD on the progress on monthly. It was abandoned when BT became GM. Director tried to get it reinstated. BT absolutely recused stating he would not micro managed in such a way. You are ALMOST absolutely correct. It was initiated by Bill Rakow and it was called the Pending Action List. It was maintained by a board member, not the GM. When Thompson was first elected to the board, he was appointed to keep the list. After he became GM, he urged the list be dumped... and it was. The Pending Action List was an excellent idea and should be reinstated. The GM does not like it because it would provide reminders at every meeting of how much he has not accomplished. |
