And the actual playground is far enough back from the road that there is ample time to catch an errant child. A great design. And the road to the courts is not a heavily travelled road in any case. Pure smoke and mirrors.
And the board just sits there and says Yup, Yup, sounds good to me. I really think we are getting into the area of failure to perform fiduciary duty if that expenditure creeps over the $250,000 that has been allotted so far. If however, as you suspect, the GM then comes back to the board and says, "Gee that move triggers a storm water management requirement that will cost xxx$", the board should fire the GM and then turn the gun on themselves. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I believe at one point during the discussions that moving the playground and adding a fence would address some safety issues regarding children moving in and out of the playground area. That was all "invented" only after Terry, Thompson, et al saw that the playground was in the way of their plans for expanding the racquet complex. That playground has been there for 10 years or more. In fact, I think Bob Thompson was on the committee that pushed the board to build it there. It was dedicated with great fanfare. |
