We got a lawyer. He negotiated with the OPA attorney for several months. What we got was a check for the money my wife should have been paid for her work last New Year's, which is all we asked for. It had nothing to do with Townsend. ( If you recall, it was Townsend who initially told the staff working that banquet that they would be splitting the extra 20 dollar "gratuity" added to the price f the tickets after they were already sold. It was also Townsend that told that staff, after the shift had already started, that was no longer the case, and that they would instead be paid an hourly "banquet rate.") It had everything to do with my lawyer not letting up.  Finally, a year after working a long shift, my wife (and the other bartenders, I believe) got paid for working. She received the same amount that he servers working that banquet got paid. No settlement...just an inexcusably late paycheck.
