Words do have meaning. What you describe above is not PEER Praise. If OPA is going to implement any program it should be clear and concise. The janitor praising the Apple CEO is not PEER praise. The Apple CEO praising the janitor is not PEER praise. Praising others for good work, doing something special, etc. is a VERY GOOD THING. No one is disputing that. However, ALL praise is not PEER Praise, but OPA implemented a PEER Praise program. Perhaps the word PEER should be dumped. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Wow.. You definitely deserve a trophy for using the most irrelevant example possible. We use a similar type format in the fire department. Occasionally receiving a email, note or text from my officer or a person I treated or assisted only confirms the reason I chose such a fulfilling career. Receiving a “atta boy”, praise or recognition from a peer for me is the greatest example of recognition of all. |
