My father had a ‘54 coupe. He got rearended by a truck. It pushed the trunk in past the rear Wheels. He didn’t get a scratch. They were tough cars. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: WOW, you really know your Studebaker history. I also loved the '53 & '54 coups, styling way ahead of their times. Only knock on Studebaker, you pulled in to a gas station and told the guy fill up the oil and check the gas! I owned a '53 coup [in the early 60s] which was a really cool looking car in the day. The standard V-8 looked like a monster but produced little HP and I could not get it to go faster than 90mph. As you said I used to carry several quarts of oil in my trunk when on a trip.
