Important that such attorney have experience with HOA matters, and also with local experience, and good reputation. The idea of "on retainer" meets your part timer criteria, without actual employment (& employee benefit) costs. Such plan works for a majority of businesses.
Instead--How about adding a part time internal auditor to OP staff? Plenty of "dirt" for such an employee to now be "shoveling" Assurance that fixes get completed, and avoiding future backsliding.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I suggested to Joe we hire a retired attorney who lives in the Pines and would like to work 20+/- hours a week but Joe wasn't real supportive of the idea, what do you think? I don't think we need a "dedicated forty hour a week" attorney to provide counsel and guidance to the Board as well as file various papers in Snow Hill, an example would be getting an order to remove a junk car. Just a thought but I think it would be a major improvement from both a cost standpoint and availability compared to what we now have with our "other side of the bay" attorneys. |
