To become commercially feasible, it needs to be economically viable. Lab demonstrations must come first. Then conversion to commercial scale, coupled with economics.
One example of conversion that I'll be interested in seeing is: converting ice on the moon into sufficient quantities of breathable oxygen. Very helpful to future explorers, and future moon visitors. The International Space Station often has six there, and has had a max of 13 there. Would be great to see those kinds of crew sizes on the moon, for extended stays. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Why not just turn the coal into gas, oil, diesel, plastics & pharmaceutical feed stocks, etc., etc.? Germany did it in WWII and we have enough coal in the Powder River Basin to supply ALL of our energy needs for the next FIVE HUNDRED YEARS! You don't have to burn the coal to use the coal! |
