The residents of Calvert County Md have had the nuclear power plant operating there since 1974 and the Cove point LNG facility also began operating there, in 1972. Seems you're arguing more on behalf of Calvert County, than ours locally. Using a remote speculation, a hypothetical.
Statics say its more likely that folks may die in vehicle accidents, or work related causes, etc. [millions every year] Per earlier message. Globally the deaths of folks estimated to be killed by lightning range from 2,000 to 6,000, every year. Chernobyl was build without any containment dome, which the US plants all have. Totally different as built over there, than the US requirements here. No need to [verbally] rattle any cages, speculating any similarity of risks. If you want to worry speculatively, what about an ICBM fired by some foreign nation, missing its DC target and hitting the eastern shore ?? What about a Wallops rocket gone astray falling here?? I'd not join those speculations either. Moving on. Bye |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Tom, all rather moot if a nuclear disaster rendered Maryland uninhabitable. |
