Why worry about population when you suggest nuclear plants are so safe? | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Are you suggesting a new nuclear power plant. locally?? Jurisdictions where nuclear power plants are being added, would usually be more sparsely populated with big tracts of land available for development, providing a buffer/ boundary of land. Same as mostly any new power plants & other industries. Significant tidal or river flows are an advantage. Those political jurisdictions typically enjoy extremely low property taxes, due to a whopping big addition to the taxable base. Nonetheless there's often an initial big public reluctance, NIMBY. Not really a current problem, as almost no new nuclear plants are being built. I'd think they would be following the already established practice of adding new units, to already existing plant locations. I've heard that existing residential neighbors have learned how those plants have been clean and safe. Also providing excellent jobs. |
