Section 23: OPA Elections Subject: A Questionable Alliance Msg# 1116336

And why did you mention Horn?
She was coupled with Perrone in Diller's charge that the Board is essentially a political dictatorship. Again. What team? Diller, hubby and perhaps Colby. OK; two or three don't make a 'team' unless it's tennis. However, two people, in any endeavor, can 'team up.' Having said all the above nonsense, I do appreciate your thoughtful response. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: That a husband/wife team of dues-paying residents desires to follow OPA election rules, to effect positive change to the way the Association is governed, is a good thing. Never said it wasn't. In fact, I wrote it is not a problem in any way. However, I also wrote that if some organized group wants to change Ocean Pines, they should at least tell us what changes they want and what their goals are -- beyond the normal fluff. Last time Diller became involved she said OPA could no longer self govern and we need to hire some outside company to come in and take over. Did you look at the video of her town hall? The last board revolution resulted in a new GM and loss of nearly $2 million. Quoting your 'Subject', the term 'Alliance' seems to imply the Diller team intends to use Colby as a tool to garner support for their agenda (whatever that may be). Perhaps you are not following. The Gazette just ran an article about how Colby and Esther started the group in question. Ms. Phillips is quoted as saying she's not involved in whatever the Team has tasked themselves with. Apparently, 'Informed sources' did not include Ms. Phillips; or, she has changed her position post any conversation you had with her. I only know what I read in the paper. Colby, to my knowledge, has not indicated she not supportive of the group's efforts. Would you expect the Team to support candidates with contrarian views/positions/solutions? Why that had to be said escapes me. What "team?" Frankly, I am sick of hearing the word team. You should read the Gazette article, if you have not already. 'A power struggle' ensued because 6 of 7 members cast identical votes? There may be a 'struggle' but 6 to one hardly implies a meaningful struggle. Sorry, but you have not been following closely. The vote was 6-0-1, with Janasek abstaining. Weeks later Janasek wanted a motion to remove Perrone as President. Parks supported doing so. Why do you suppose Parks would have voted that Perrone did nothing wrong and then want to punish him? Let's dismiss any thought of her 'choosing to embroil.' If she is desirous of the OPA GM position, it's doubtless that she'd want that as a topic of discussion around the 'Cove' water fountains. I think Colby did make a choice to have some involvement with Esther. However, if she wanted no water cooler talk at Captain's Cove, why then become involved with Esther's political machinations in any way shape or form. A bad choice in my opinion. Just the ticket to make it easier for the local papers to aggregate, interpret and pass judgement on the garbage disguised as 'information' on these platforms. I'm surprised you didn't take the Team to task for this. Again. What team? Otherwise I have no idea what you mean. With that in mind, the 'Questionable Alliance' membership, that now consists of 2, perhaps three, non-'gripers' has a chance to grow exponentially-- especially, if the collective opinion of the Forum user group is any indication of how the overall membership views the behavior of Perrone and Horn. According to the newspaper there are hundreds. As for collective opinions, Colby was an extremely popular employee and interacted a great deal with association members. Who knows Perrone? And why did you mention Horn? |
