| Some times Steve ,People need to change perception of themselves. I guarantee if a black person has money a house will be sold to him or her. Where did this WHITE privilege come from all of a sudden. I grew up and some how it missed me, I have looked all around my house and I can't find any white privilege. I have worked 40 hour weeks, 70 hour weeks and more. People of what ever color can obtain what ever they want if they have the will power and desire to to so. All people of every color are followed in stores by more cameras then you can imagine. Steve walk into any Casino, and see how many eyes are on you both on the ground and in the sky. you would be amazed. Sorry no White Privilege here. I worked beside Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, never any problems ever, unless you cut into my lunch time. I am utterly amazed that this country has turned so nasty, and ugly more so now then ever. Press have anything to do with it, Politicians. We need a fair press and I guarantee 50% of the problems would be better. Blacks wouldn't have so many problems with police, if they could follow orders. You think white people don't get shot. They do! | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Hi Marty, (And others who responded to my original post to Marty) I in no way question that you got a good education, worked hard, probably in junior high and high school, went on to higher education and have built a business career. All of which you were able to do because you are white. These same opportunities are not readily available for black children and less so for them as they grow older. There are exceptions but there are systems that make it very difficult for black people to break through the racial barriers. Let me give you a few illustrations... The first is a very helpful animation on differences between the black and white experience in the US. Click Here You most likely will have to copy the link and paste it into your browser. Some other brief comments I can buy a house anywhere I want as long as I have the money. Not so, even today for black people I can shop in any store I want and never wonder if I am being followed I never am overly concerned when stopped by the police If I sell my house I do not have to deal with lower offers because I am a black homeowner. If you wanted me to I could send you many articles and documentation to support the existence of systemic racism in the US. I in no way am saying you or any one else is racist. I am saying we as white people have privilege. Steve |
