I invite you to join us in 2021 where in state tuition at University of Maryland is $20,000. I understand privilege and so do my sons. They were fortunate enough to have a family car to use before they got a hand me down. They had a parent who could cosign a loan or help with car insurance. While getting their higher education, they had the privilege of parents to help with security deposits before the stipend arrived. These "unfortunate" people you refer to are working in the hospitality industry. Some of them work at the Berlin Nursing home for $12 an hour. Being broke is a temporary situation whereas being poor is a hole that is hard to climb out of. There is a difference. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Amy: I assure you I get it. I have been broke myself, but I have never been poor. There is a difference. What do these unfortunate people do in Ocean City that they can’t afford a car? I spent many a summer working on the beach and always took home enough to live well and save enough for the fall tuition. Marty |
