I am well aware of my role as Liaison and have and will conduct myself accordingly. The involvement I referenced was making sure I attend all the meetings, act on any of the committee's requests/pass along the Board's charging documents as quickly as possible, and make sure all minutes, agendas and reports are filed for publication. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I expect to be very involved with the ENA committee going forward. Hmmm. You are not a member of the committee; you are the board liaison to the committee. Back around 2005, the board decided to eliminate committee liaisons since committees felt the liaison tended to have too much influence on the committees. A few years later liaisons were re-established with the proviso that liaisons were there to observe and report back to the board, not to be a driving force in the committee activities. I can recall liaisons even refusing to participate in committee discussions. I also recall one committee chair (Budget & Finance as I recall) telling the liaison to stop talking and only speak if asked by the chair to do so. I have a sense liaisons have become overly involved in committee operations again in recent years. |
