For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Nicely stated. While I'm sympathetic with the Knupp family typically benches, trees, bricks etc. are used to memorialize a loved one. Naming an entire facility is normally only done when someone has either raised the funding or paid for it in its entirety. Additionally, there may be other children who have passed, or unfortunately may be those in the future who will, that also loved the skate park. They are no less worthy of being remembered by friends and family at the facility if they wish...and why items that can be replicated are used to memorialize loved ones. Quite frankly I don't understand why the board offering either the bench or an award in Gavin's name, or both, is considered an insult. |
