| The Sam Wilkinson Award has honored outstanding volunteers in our Community since 2003. I think an award for youth named after Gavin Knupp would be a wonderful legacy. I also think it would be awesome to allow the Gavin Knupp Foundation to improve the park and add a plaque that credits the foundation. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Personally, I think the idea of an annual award in Gavin's name is the better choice because it will insure that his name is remembered yearly at the time of the award which could be to an outstanding young man or woman in the community. A plaque or sign at the skateboard park will only be seen by those few that frequent that area. If the family has their heart set on a plaque at the skateboard park, do it. And do another one commemorating the two or three moving forces behind building it in the first place. They had to do a fair amount of persuading to get it done. It wasn't just a walk (skate) in the park. |
