Yes, that does sound nice but isn't it now OPA's responsibility to maintain the skatepark? If I remember correctly, I think some residents got together and raised funds to build the park. After a number of years, they turned it over to OPA. Or maybe you're talking about adding some better skate areas (I don't know skating lingo anymore. My son's now in his 40's.)
I can't imagine the pain the Knupp family has had to deal with after the loss of their son. My condolences to their family. I hate to see all this nasty talk happening now. I believe the Board would need to take time to consider a suggestion to put the park in Gavin's name. They are making decisions for 8,452 residents. Things take time. They don't have any ulterior motives. Just volunteers working to help their community. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The Sam Wilkinson Award has honored outstanding volunteers in our Community since 2003. I think an award for youth named after Gavin Knupp would be a wonderful legacy. I also think it would be awesome to allow the Gavin Knupp Foundation to improve the park and add a plaque that credits the foundation. |
