Joe,
Its my understanding that there are less than 200 members of the Golf course. There are 8499 homes in OP. Operationally, it loses money every year. Why should 8299 homes have to keep losing money on something they don’t use. My opinion as a business owner is, if there isn’t a profit at all change it. We keep throwing money at the golf amenity. New clubhouse, New golf cart barn, New golf carts for the second time in five years, and I’m sure I missed some new additions. My husband is a golfer. He rarely uses our course because it’s not as good as others in the area. We need to adjust the spending in order to justify the amenity. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Traci, Even if depreciation costs are included, golf last year lost $85,000 all in. Certainly not many millions as you suggest. The golf course is perhaps the most valuable asset of this community, along with the Yacht Club and Beach Club. Beyond that, what is it you want to happen with the golf course? Financially it is doing the best it has done in 25 years or so. |
