“Will you be sending a similar letter to Mr. Tom Stauss? His reporting suffers from the same problems as that of Mr. Chavez.”
I am not sure what is seen as the problem with what Stauss or Chavez writes. Seems to me this is more a matter of board politics, with each article, regardless of author, viewed through a political lens. Or the oft-used phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Neither the Parks letter to the Gazette nor any similar letter to any news source should ever be considered. The Parks letter was a classic example of poor judgment. Parks praised two Gazette writers prior to Chavez. One of those writers wrote an article where Parks is quoted comparing then fellow board member Slobodan Trendic to a "turd." Should Trendic have written a letter from OPA asking the Gazette not to allow the author of that article to cover OPA? If hypocrisy was water, the OPA boardroom would be flooded. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I neither supported nor disagreed with the sending of the letter about Mr. Chavez’s reporting. My response to Director Parks was as follows: “Will you be sending a similar letter to Mr. Tom Stauss? His reporting suffers from the same problems as that of Mr. Chavez.” Colette Horn |
