Steve - I support your initiative to extend the final ballot due date by one week and to sli the annual meeting.
The most important outcome is to provide a fair reasonable opportunity for OP owners to cast their vote. Seems to me that extending the due date by a week is a very reasonable response. Sure, it may mess up some annual meeting plans that I think that meeting needs to take a back seat to provide all OP members a reasonable chance to vote. If I'm a BOD member I'd want the comfort to know that I responded to the realities by erroring on the side of giving owners a fair opportunity to be heard. Thanks for the posting Steve. Don |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, As you know, I try to avoid posting on this outstanding forum of ideas or any other social media. That said, allow me to make a few observations. One, while the majority of the Board voted to enter into the contract, many of the issues you raised were raised during the Board discussion. In fact, we were told that their would be no delay in the various USPS sorting stops in getting the ballots to and from Ocean Pines. Second, there was no discussion regarding sending the ballots out in batches, which I suspect if it was mentioned would have heightened concerns. Third, the delay in members receiving their ballot may increase the concern that return ballots even if mailed and postmarked prior to the cut-off date will be received in Washington and tabulated due to the "tight window" between the cut-off date, the tabulation and the annual meeting. I have raised the idea of extending the cut-off date and delaying the annual meeting to help ensure that all ballots received by the cut-off date will be tabulated. It should be noted that the drop-box will be relied on to a greater extent than assumed by the Board majority during deliberation on the contract does not really assist part-timers who receive and execute their ballots at locations other than OP. Hence, my belief is that time should be extended. Finally, in the grand scheme of things is a hic-up more or less severe than a kerfuffle, boo-boo, oopsie or a do-over? Steve Jacobs |
