Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Another Sign Flap Msg# 1202477

I wrote to Marty Clarke, "So, you are saying it is illegal for CPI inspectors to remove signs as both the new and the old Guidelines give them the authority to do?"
Correction: The existing Guidelines give inspectors the right to remove signs from association member properties. The proposed Guidelines eliminate that removal right and limit removal to only OPA common property. Thus anyone hoping for any swift sign relief for public office signs to be removed seven days after an election could be many months for the normal violation process to reach a conclusion. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have read this and it isn’t much different then when in 1987 Caliban charged the OPA with trespassing and had the head of the ECC, Jerry Muir I think, arrested. The then General Manager Tim Stoner and the OPA attorney Joe Moore agreed to replace the sign and correct any damage. So, you are saying it is illegal for CPI inspectors to remove signs as the old and new Guidelines give them the authority to do? It is not 1987. Do you have some legal reference? |
