In the winters in Maryland most folks chose land based winter storage for their boats. And in my family with wood boats in the 1960's on the Western shore, we always chose winter storage on land.
I'd think perhaps it was a decade earlier than that when the biggest waterway freeze occurred here. ( in the earlier 2,000's) |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Was that the same year the Isle of Wight froze over? I remember guys at the Pines Point Marina walking around the outside of their boats breaking up the ice.
